"Never trust a woman or an automatic pistol." John Dillinger

The Corpse Is Dreaming by Todd Moore is an excerpt from his epic, 21 volume (1,000 plus lines) poem on John Dillinger. It will be published in February, 2000, by the Lummox Press, in a special edition of the Little Red Book Series (pob 5301 San Pedro, CA 90733-5301; $6 - postpaid). The following quotes are from an article in the Chicago Reader by Bill Helmer (6-24-88)

"Dillinger had: a wonderful can-do attitude that works to the advantage of anyone who doesn't know his limitations - and thereby isn't bound by them...quick wits plus self-discipline and a fatalistic self-control that permitted so many successful acts of daring."

"Moore sees Dillinger as coming from that pool...growing up in the netherworld between country and city... the personalities and mentalities of the people who make up the pool of restless, poorly socialized young men from which some kinds of criminals are drawn..."

"Moore has always been interested in the style and other qualities that delinquents need, and rarely have, to become world-class criminals... Dillinger had a wonderful can-do attitude that works to the advantage of anyone who doesn't know his limitations - and thereby isn't bound by them."

The Corpse Is Dreaming details the last minutes of John Dillinger's life before his assassination, or killing (depending on who you listen to) outside the Biograph Theater on Chicago's Lincoln Avenue, on July 22, 1934. He was betrayed by Anna Sage, the notorious "woman in red", a confident of his girlfriend, Polly, for big promises & big money (neither of which she got).

The Lummox Press is very pleased to be able to offer this publication for sale as part of Mr. Todd Moore's being honored with the Lummox of the Year 2000 award.
