A CENTRAL CLEARINGHOUSE FOR THE LUMMOX JOURNAL

Listed below are a series of links which will provide you with access to some of the best writing published in the Lummox Journal over the last five years. You will find interviews, articles/essays, commentary, reviews and a smattering of poetry.

The Lummox Journal has been published once a month since October of 1995. From its humble beginnings, it has grown to become a respected part of the small press zine community. Regularly featured on its pages are the thoughts of such writers as Todd Moore, Tim Scannell, Rene Diedrich, Scott Wannberg, Gerald Locklin, George McFettridge, S.A. Griffin, Linda Lerner, to name a few.

The stated theme of the journal is to examine the creative process of the artistic mind. It does this through interview, essays and examples such as poetry & illustration. But it is NOT a poetry mag, per se.

The Lummox Journal is published by the Lummox Press, which also publishes The Little Red Book series (LRB), the LRB Master series, GRIT, and SEX FIEND. The Lummox Press also runs a "writer's club" called the Lummox Society of Writers (LSW) which features the LSW Newsletter and unlimited submissions to the Lummox Journal for 12 months. Dues for LSW are only 5 dollars per year.

Best O'The LUMMOX Journal

WELCOME TO THE ARCHIVES!

Here you will find an on-going swirl of thoughts, ideas, opinions and other clap-trap culled from the bowels of the Lummox Journal over the last five years. Check the links below to find the best of Raindog's "The View From Down Here", Jay Alamares' "The Last Page", Todd Moore's thoughts on the craft of writing, Rene Diedrich's "Notes of an Initiate", Tim Scannell's comments & reviews, (reviews & other stuff from the LUMMOX)!

Unlike many small press/alternative zines on the market these days, the LUMMOX Journal does not focus, as much, on the products of creativity, namely poetry, fiction, music, etc ; but rather on what's going on inside the heads of those who create it. There are two exceptions to this: the annual ALL POETRY issue (April) and the annual ALL REVIEWS issue (December). The LUMMOX Journal accepts articles, essays, commentaries exploring the process of creativity, poetry (only 15% to 20% of submissions are published). E-mail submissions are accepted. Also simultaneous submissions. Send inquiry FIRST.

Deadline: the 15th of each month.

Ad deadline: 20th of each month. For Ad rates, e-mail me. (They're very reasonable)

Available in hard copy (digest size -- 5.5" X 8.5", 16 to 24 pgs) by subscription (12 issues for twenty dollars). Back issues are available including the annual Bukowski Remembered issue ('97, '98, '99) & The All Poetry issue ('98 & '99)
